EKSPAN WERE CALLED UPON BY BAM NUTTALL TO PROVIDE SOLUTIONS FOR A NEW 122M BRIDGE IN EAST SUSSEX.
The need for the bridge arose as the Port was only accessible by local residential roads, which are unsuitable for heavy goods vehicles. The Newhaven Port Access Road was a key priority for East Sussex County Council’s plans for the economic regeneration of the area and to promote the vital role in transporting goods around the UK and abroad.

Our team provided the project with end-to-end temporary works and bearings services.
The new 122m bridge is supported by EKSPAN spherical bearings and spans a Network Rail line. EKSPAN designed and manufactured the 25 spherical bearings required to support the structure.
During installation of the bridge structure, EKSPAN provided the temporary restraints and 250te hydraulic cylinders for the structure to be landed on.
Once the structure was landed, EKSPAN completed the installation of the spherical bridge bearing including grouting and the load transfer of the structure to the bearings.
