Hydro-Electric Power Station – Low Head High Pressure Pipeline – Pipe Section Replacement

EKSPAN were instructed to remove and replace the damaged carbon wrap pipe with a new pipe section, including installation of an additional moving joint.
Pre-works operations involved establishment and setup of the site compound for delivery and positioning of site cabins, offloading of equipment and materials and preparation of plant and hydraulic equipment to enable jacking of the pipeline.

Hydro-Electric High Head Pipeline Saddle Refurbishment

The hydro-electric power station is located near the river Conwy in North Wales. The high head pipeline, originally constructed around the 1930’s, delivers water to the power station from the reservoir to power the turbines.

Low Head stool and bearing replacement Dolgarrog Power Station

EKSPAN were instructed to replace bearing stools assemblies on the low head high pressure pipeline for plinths 2, 4 and 6.

EKSPAN’s Solution
The roof construction of the stadium created a number of technical issues with respect to managing dynamic loads. Additional rotations and movements had to be considered at the main support positions to accommodate the nature of the mobile roof structure.
