As part of the wider Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) programme, the Calder Road scheme required expert coordination to ensure beam landings could take place under live blockade conditions. EKSPAN were engaged to support BAM TRU West in planning and executing the structural bearing installation and temporary works needed to progress this vital rail infrastructure scheme.
Our scope of works included the following key services:
A heavy emphasis was placed on early-stage planning to ensure that once the beams arrived on site, the transition process could be completed quickly and safely. Once the beams were landed and securely positioned, our teams completed a controlled de-jacking process, enabling the full structural load to be transferred to the newly installed bearings.
Delivered during a live rail blockade – timing and precision were critical
Seamless collaboration with BAM TRU West ensured safe and successful delivery
EKSPAN’s in-house temporary works design supported full beam landing operations
All works completed on schedule with zero disruption to programme
